Patient Rights & Responsibilities

It is your right as Al Raha Hospital patient

  1. To know the mission statement of Al Raha Hospital and type of services that they provide.
  2. To be treated with dignity and respect, prescription consistent with professional standards for all patients regardless of manner of payment, advice race, sex, nationality, religion, culture, disability or any other factor.
  3. To receive care that is considerate, respectful of the patients, personal values and beliefs.
  4. To receive health care on the basis of clinical need.
  5. To receive emergency medical care and treatment easily and quickly.
  6. To be referred to a specialist/consultant for special care when there is a clinical need.
  7. To receive detailed explanation of your condition, care, treatment and after care, in terms that is free from professional jargon in order that you can fully understand.
  8. To have a second opinion or to have your care transferred to another physician if you are not satisfied with the patient care provided.
  9. To have privacy during examination, procedures, clinical care & treatment and you have the right to know who is in attendance and the purpose of those in attendance on them.
  10. To have the right to informed consent for treatment, procedures, interventions, as per HAAD Consent Policy.
  11. To receive verbal and written information about any proposed treatment and to be told if there are any alternatives available.
  12. To have all the clinical and pharmaceutical records kept fully updated, relevant information fully documented and personal details and records kept fully confidential and protected from loss and misuse.
  13. To have the freedom to choose your pharmaceutical care provided.
  14. To receive relevant, current and understandable information concerning your drugs and treatment.
  15. To have the right to make decision about your drugs and treatment choices.
  16. To discuss and request information related to your specific drug therapy, possible adverse, side effects and drug interactions.
  17. To have drug therapy monitored for safety and efficacy and to make reasonable efforts to detect and prevent drug allergies, adverse reactions or contraindications.
  18. To monitor the compliance and proper drug use and institute remedial interventions when necessary.
  19. To be provided with Arabic/English interpreter services; and all other language barriers shall be accommodated based upon availability of translation resources.
  20. To have any complaint that you make acknowledged, fully investigated, and be provided with a written response as per the facility policy.
  21. To be protected from physical assault during your visit in Al Raha Hospital.
  22. To have appropriate protection if you are elderly, vulnerable or disabled children.

It is your responsibility as Al Raha Hospital patient

  1. To bring your medical card/insurance card with you every time you attend Al Raha Hospital.
  2. To follow the rules and regulations of Al Raha Hospital.
  3. To show respect and to be courteous to the staff.
  4. To not use abusive language and/or display unsocial behavior to other patients, visitors or hospital staff.
  5. To show consideration for other patient needs, especially where their needs are greater.
  6. To use the emergency and walk in service appropriately.
  7. To give accurate information about and personal details and past medical history of allergy or of allergic reaction to any medication.
  8. To be accountable for your own actions if you decided not to follow Al Raha Hospital instructions and/or treatment plan recommendations.
  9. To safeguard any belonging that you decide to keep in your possession after you have been admitted.
  10. To keep outpatient appointments and inform the clinic if you are unable to attend, in advance so that the appointment may be used for someone else in need.
  11. To inform the medical staff if you have any special requirements for discharge and are requested to be prepared to go home once medically discharged from the hospital.
  12. To be accountable for the payment of the services provided by Al Raha Hospital as applicable.
